Bonding

Dental bonding is used to close gaps in the teeth, eliminate spots or discolourations, and repair damage. At Hall Dental in Lethbridge, we use bonding materials that closely match the colour, translucency and texture of your natural teeth.

How will dental bonding be applied to my teeth?

Your dentist will begin by choosing a tooth coloured composite resin to match the shade of your existing teeth as closely as possible. This resin is applied to the teeth in a process similar to the application of resin to fill a cavity.

The procedure is call "bonding" because an adhesive agent is used to actually bond the resin to the tooth structure. The resin is hardened (cured) with a curing light and then shaped, contoured, and polished to provide a consistent texture and natural appearance.

How will I know if bonding is right for me?

Many patients choose bonding to make cosmetic improvements to their smile. Bonding is a relatively inexpensive cosmetic procedure and can be completed during a single dental visit.

Composite bonding most effective for small defects in the teeth, for instance spots, chips, or gaps between teeth. For restorations involving an entire tooth or multiple teeth, other procedures will likely be advisable. Your dentist will be pleased to discuss the advantages of this procedure and help you decide if dental bonding is right for you.
